2020 Season Close and Retrospective

Thanks for an electric 2020! As we pack it in for the winter, let’s look back on how far we’ve come.

On November 4, Nice Ride shut down for the winter season. Now that the 2020 riding season’s coming to a close, let’s take a look back at how much ground we’ve covered.

Caring for the Nice Ride community

As we move forward through COVID-19, the health and safety of our riders remains our priority, particularly critical workers. We took action to support them with free bikeshare memberships — and following the guidance of the CDC, WHO, and the Minnesota Department of Health, we added disinfection protocols for our bikes and shared best practices with our riding community. For the community’s sake, we urge you to stay vigilant and use caution over the winter.

Ebikes returned in far greater numbers to the streets of Minneapolis this summer — their runaway success was a highlight of the entire season! Alongside the bikes, we also installed convenient e-stations to keep them available (and our streets clutter free). You owe it to yourself to feel this kind of breeze if you haven’t yet.

As if that wasn’t enough, we also brought Lyft scooters to the streets (and the Nice Ride app) this summer. With these on the streets, we now offer a suite of options to get you there while socially distancing — and just like ebikes, they’re conveniently available at e-stations citywide.

App updates

We now show public transit right from the Nice Ride app, taking us that much closer to a truly multimodal digital experience for riders of all types. For the commute, groceries, prescriptions, exercise, or just the sheer joy of it, you can stitch your trip together with the help of the app.

On the horizon

Though we’ve closed for the winter, we aren’t about to slow down. We can’t wait to return in spring 2021 with more of everything we love about Nice Ride: stations, bikes, scooters, better parking solutions, and (more) riders like you. See you then!
